Q: How do I get access to the league Gmail account?

A: Access is managed through our shared 1Password vault. Ask @tooling in Slack for access to 1Password if you don’t already have it. Once you’re in, log into 1Password and look for the vault called VCR 1Password – Shared Account. Use the Share Link functionality in 1Password to safely get the Gmail login details.

Q: Who do I contact if I can’t find the Gmail login in 1Password?

A: Message @tooling in Slack. They’ll confirm your access and help you locate the right credentials.

Q: Can I share the Gmail password directly with someone else?

A: Nope. Always use the Share Link option in 1Password instead of copying or messaging the password. That way, it stays secure and we can manage access properly.

Q: How can I change my membership?

A: Fill in the Membership Change Form. This form covers things like switching between active and social membership, updating your details, or transferring out. Once submitted, the Committee will review and confirm the changes with you.

Q: How do I submit an expense?

A: Start by posting your request in the #expenses-and-reimbursements Slack channel using the workflow button. Once approved by the Committee, you can go ahead with the purchase.

After you’ve spent the money, complete the Reimbursement Form (linked in the approval post) and attach your receipt. The Treasurer will process reimbursements in the next payment cycle.

Q. Do I need travel insurance for roller derby travel?

Yes — if you are travelling for roller derby, especially internationally, you should make sure you have travel insurance that specifically covers roller derby activities.

Not all travel insurance policies automatically cover contact sports or roller derby, so always check the policy wording carefully before purchasing.

VCR cannot provide insurance advice or guarantee coverage under any policy. It is each member’s responsibility to confirm that their policy covers roller derby and any related travel activities.

If you are unsure, contact the insurer directly and ask for written confirmation that roller derby is covered.

Q. What travel insurance options have members used before?

VCR members have previously used:

• Cover-More New Zealand
  Some members have also had success getting cheaper Cover-More policies through insurance brokers rather than booking directly online. One example shared within the league was through Travel Insurance Brokers in Hamilton, using a Cover-More policy that specifically included roller derby while wearing safety gear.

• Air New Zealand optional travel insurance
  Some members have previously reported that the travel insurance offered during Air New Zealand flight bookings covered roller derby activities under their policy at the time they travelled.

Policies and coverage can change over time, so always verify the details yourself before purchasing.
